For the purposes of the present project, we have adopted an inclusive and all-encompassing notion of applied ethics. We consider the term to be interchangeable with the term practical ethics. We use the term in such a way as to cover the narrower conceptions of conventional normative ethics as well as the broader conceptions of policy analysis and environmental thought. Canadian Issues It is our contention that the specifics of the Canadian situation are sufficiently different (from those of other countries) and interesting to warrant treatment in their own right.
