He didn’t speak in a loud or abrasive manner. I thanked him, figured he was a fan with a lot of money, and went back to my table. As I sat down, my friends started whispering, “Do you know who that is? That’s the Mexican Mafia. ” Having heard of them, I became scared. The blonde wouldn’t leave, choosing instead to hang next to me. And the drinks kept AMERICAN SON 51 coming, ordered courtesy of that other table. I felt pressure. Even when I went to the restroom, I felt they were watching me. Sure enough, when I glanced over at that table, several guys were staring at me.

And that love did start in the gym. That’s because I didn’t connect the two at the time. The gym was just a fun place for me as a young child, a place to run around 32 Oscar De La Hoya with all the other little kids there, a place to climb in and out of the ropes, to awkwardly jump rope or reach up with my small fists and attempt to move a heavy bag that seemed like a skyscraper from my tiny perspective. He asked me about my mother and I started bawling, my emotions spilling out in those tears like a dam overflowing. At last. I remember telling Fred I was so sorry I was crying. , I found a reception beyond what I could possibly have imagined.
